Welcome! About My Little Prairie Home

Although my life journey has taken me through a myriad of different landscapes – cities, farms, mountains, suburbs, and even a foreign country – the essence of the ‘prairie’ has always remained with me, no matter where I’ve made my home. Amidst the sparsely populated American grasslands, the enduring popularity of the Little House series, and the resurgence of pioneer skills and values worldwide, I’ve come to realize I’m not alone in my affinity for the prairie lifestyle.

While I haven’t experienced the required self-reliance and hardship of living in an isolated prairie cabin, my lifelong passion for and study of the Great Westward Movement has deeply influenced who I am and how I choose to live. The ideas, skills, and hard-learned lessons gleaned from this exploration have shaped my perspective profoundly.

I don’t romanticize a life confined within sod walls, miles from civilization, nor do I overlook the comforts of the modern era that were mere dreams to Laura Ingalls and her family. Instead, I seek a balanced blend between the simplicity of pioneer life and the blessings of modernity.

My journey began amidst a tumultuous and dramatic childhood, where I viewed the Ingalls family’s adventures as idyllic and utopian. However, as I matured, I came to understand the harsh realities of their experiences, including hardship, sacrifice, and loss, juxtaposed with moments of love, contentment, and purpose. This realization has profoundly influenced my choices, relationships, and adventures ever since.

My Little Prairie Home is a culmination of the lessons, skills, resources, and values – both practical and intangible – that I’ve acquired along this journey. It’s an evolving collection of information and resources aimed at sharing the essence of the prairie lifestyle with others. I invite you to explore this eclectic blend and discover something meaningful to incorporate into your own life.

After all, sometimes, the prairie is not just a place but a state of mind. Welcome to My Little Prairie Home.
